Frequently Asked Questions

This page has been created to help answer the questions most frequently asked.  If you don't find what you are looking for, call us at 302-856-4300 or email your question to our knowledgeable sales and service staff.

Q: How do I know which type of RV I should buy?
A: To begin the whole process, you'll need to decide the basic use of the RV. Ask yourself whether you will be using it for:

  • Weekend getaways.
  • Short vacations or extended vacations.
  • Several months at a time in a warmer climate (this is called "snow birding").
  • Your home for a long period of time or permanently (this is called "full timing").

Other questions to consider include how many people will be using the RV:  Only you or with your partner; you and your young family; you as a retired individual or a couple.

Q: How can I tell how much my vehicle can tow?
A: Towing capacity is specified by the vehicle manufacturer and can usually be found in the owner’s manual or at the dealership where you purchased your vehicle. Depending on the make and model year of your car or truck, you may be able to find your vehicle's towing capacity here.

Q: Is there any way I can see a floor plan?
A: The best way to see a floor plan is to come into the dealership. Another option is to visit our information page to link to the manufacturer of your choice.

Q: Do you sell park models?
A: We sell park trailers up to 42 feet in length in one and two bedroom models.  Call us at 302-856-4300 or email us to learn the advantages of owning a park trailer versus a park model.

Q: How can I get my park trailer to my site?
A: We will deliver and place your new trailer on your lot within our local area, usually at no additional expense.

Q: What happens if I have a problem with what I bought later?
A: Every manufacturer we represent offers a one year warranty and we offer protection programs for newer used units. To handle the actual repairs, we have a complete shop with factory-trained technicians and a fully equipped road service truck on the road five days a week in season.

Q: Do you make arrangements for a site to put the trailer on?
A: The actual choice of campground and the arrangements are up to you. Click here to view a list of local campgrounds.

Q: What if I owe more on the unit I am trading in than the trade-in value?
A: We do not like to see any of our customers in a challenging financial position, so we would recommend that you sell the trade-in on your own.  Another option is to be able to pay the difference from trade-in and payoff.

Q: Should I winterize my camper for the winter?
A: Absolutely! We recommend running RV antifreeze throughout the entire plumbing system as soon as you are done camping for the season before the first freeze.  Ask us about season specials when you make your appointment.

Q: What kind of maintenance do I have to do for my camper?
A: There are several things we recommend to protect your investment and ensure many years of enjoyment:

  1. Clean and condition you rubber roof at least once a year, preferable in the spring. We have a complete line of cleaning and conditioning products available in the parts store.
  2. Once a year, it is good to check all seams, windows, and compartments to make sure the sealant is good.  NEVER use a silicone based sealant anywhere on your camper.
  3. In the spring, have all propane appliance assemblies cleaned and adjusted for safe and efficient operation.

Q: What do I do if my air conditioning is not cooling like it used to?
A: RV air conditioners are sealed units, meaning they cannot be recharged. While most often all that is required is routine maintenance which includes cleaning the filter the fins and lubricating the motor, Delaware Camping Center has highly trained, experienced technicians that can make sure your RV is at its best.

Q: Why is there such a difference on what dealers offer as a trade?
A: Delaware Camping Center refuses to play "numbers games". As an RV Outlet, we discount our prices from the suggested retail price and we present the real trade-in value. You can feel confident you are getting the best deal the first time you visit our dealership. In addition, our Price Guarantee lets you know we will not advertise the same unit for less, or we will refund the difference plus $1,000.
